JOSÉ RAMÓN GARCÍA

PIANIST

Recognized as one of the most promising Spanish pianists of his generation, José Ramón García (Albacete, 1993) has captivated audiences across Spain, Europe, and North America. His artistry has been praised by critics such as F. Jaime Pantín, who described his performances as displaying “an undeniable technique and solid structural command, showcasing a fascinating musical personality that blends sensitivity and clarity with a passionate temperament.” José Ramón has performed in prestigious venues such as the Auditorio Nacional and Ateneo de Madrid, the Palau de la Música in Valencia, and the Wiener Saal in Austria, among others.

He has been invited to renowned festivals including the “Rafael Orozco” Piano Festival (Córdoba), “Schubert Club Series” (Connecticut, USA), “PianoCity” (Madrid), and the Festival de las Navas del Marqués (Ávila), among others. As a soloist, he has performed with orchestras such as the Galicia Symphony, Valencia Symphony, Castilla y León Symphony, and the Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra (Turkey), under the baton of distinguished conductors like Enrique García Asensio and Ovidiu Balan.

In 2006, composer Antón García Abril entrusted José Ramón with the premiere of his work Suite Lontananzas, marking a milestone in his early career. More recently, in October 2022, his talent was further recognized when he appeared on the cover of the prestigious Codalario magazine.

José Ramón has won over 30 prizes in national and international competitions, including First Prize at the Spanish Composers International Piano Competition and the National Competition of Juventudes Musicales de España, Second Prize at the “Frechilla-Zuloaga” International Competition, Third Prize at the Ciudad de Ferrol International Competition, and Fifth Prize with the KAWAI Award for Best Spanish Pianist at the “José Iturbi” International Piano Competition, among others.

He began his musical studies at the age of six with Julia Guigó and later continued with Llanos Díaz at the Albacete Professional Conservatory. His education was further enriched under the mentorship of Leonel Morales and Josu de Solaun, who played a decisive role in shaping his artistic development. After completing a Master’s in Piano Performance at Sam Houston State University (USA), he earned a Doctorate in Musical Arts in 2021 from the University of Texas, under the guidance of pianist Anton Nel.

Currently based in Madrid, José Ramón balances his career as a concert pianist with his role as a professor at Escuela Superior Musical Arts in Madrid, where he teaches piano, improvisation, and chamber music.
